Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups frozen cherries
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 13 tablespoons whole milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cherry filling by heating frozen cherries and sugar in a saucepan until bubbling. Mix cold water and cornstarch separately, then add to the bubbling cherry mixture until thickened. Cool.
  2. For the dough, activate yeast in warm water and combine with milk, sugar, eggs, salt, and gradually add flour. Knead in butter until smooth.
  3. Allow dough to rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread cooled cherry filling evenly on top, roll tightly, and cut into individual rolls.
  5. Let rolls rise again for about 30 minutes before baking at 375°F for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Prepare frosting by mixing softened butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk to desired consistency.
  7. Drizzle frosting over warm rolls before serving.
