  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream or coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, balances acidity)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup chopped cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix Greek yogurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, and spices. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and coat with the marinade. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat oil and butter. Cook marinated chicken until browned for about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and ginger; cook until fragrant.
  4. Stir in spices, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, and cream; bring to a simmer. Return chicken to the skillet and cook for about 20 minutes until fully cooked.
  5. Adjust seasoning as needed and finish with lemon juice and cilantro before serving.
