  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter (cubed)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted and coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil and spraying it with nonstick cooking spray or using a silicone mat.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until fully dissolved.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally, until it reaches 240°F (soft ball stage).
  4. Remove from heat and drop in the cubed butter without stirring. Let sit for one minute before adding pecans.
  5. Stir until the mixture thickens and lightens in color; then quickly scoop spoonfuls onto your prepared baking sheet.
  6. Allow pralines to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes before enjoying.
