  • 4 burger buns (buttered and toasted)

Instructions

  1. Slice chicken breasts in half horizontally and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In one bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce; in another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, and spices.
  3. Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, dip in the buttermilk mixture, then return to the flour mixture for a thorough coating.
  4. Heat oil in a pan to 350ºF and fry the chicken for about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Ensure internal temperature reaches 165ºF.
  5. Mix hot oil with brown sugar and spices; baste the fried chicken before assembling.
