  • 6 pieces Bone-In Skin-On Chicken
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 23 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 Red Onion
  • 4 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 Cups Water
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric
  • 1½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon Allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • Sliced Almonds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Soak the basmati rice in water for at least 30 minutes to achieve fluffy texture.
  2. Season chicken pieces with salt and spice blend thoroughly.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté minced garlic and chopped onion in olive oil until fragrant; set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, brown the marinated chicken on both sides for about 5 minutes each; remove from skillet.
  5. Add water to the pan with the chicken juices; bring to a boil before adding soaked rice and turmeric.
  6. Simmer until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed; top with sautéed onions and garlic before serving.
  7. Garnish generously with sliced almonds.
